It is possible to control the "BYPASS" function of most units via MIDI. While this is usually described in the manual, we receive many questions about how to do it, and there is no unified process covering all products. This note should make the process explicit.
Product | Version | Method |
Orville | 2.740 minimum | Press BYPASS to go to BYPASS CONFIG Screen. Press and hold any of the softkeys in the normal way to bring up the controller screen. |
DSP7000/7500 | 2.740 minimum | Controller setup screen under SETUP/EXTERNAL |
Eclipse | Eclipse Controller screen under SETUP/EXTERNAL
DSP4000B+ | Not possible with present OS
DSP4000 | Controller screen under LEVELS/EXT CON/kill key
H3000 | See Below |
MIDI control of the Bypass button is not supported on the H3000. However, here are two suggestions that might be helpful:
You can create a blank program with nothing but input and output. This program location will become your bypass. You will have to set the input and output level. This is what some users do and it works great, and there is no coloration of the sound.
If the H3000 is run in parallel within an audio system, not in series
(like in a guitar amp FX loop), you could use CC#7 and control the H3000
output level. This will mute the unit when desired. |
