Eventide knows that you don't always think in terms of "pitch ratios." Sometimes, you simply want to go up a major third, or down a fifth. An important new feature of the H969 is a bank of twelve "instant" pitch change presets. Five buttons on the front panel are factory set to give you a precise major third, minor third, fifth, seventh, or octave of pitch change. A sixth button determines whether each interval is selected as a sharp (increase pitch) or flat (decrease pitch). There are also instant presets for sharp and flat micro-pitch change - a small interval of pitch change that's ideal for vocal doubling and many other effects. Touch another button for instant return to unison (normal pitch). With all presets, the selected pitch ration is displayed on the digital readout.
Two independent four digit readouts display selected pitch ratio and delay times simultaneously. The readouts are rock stable - last digit "boble" is banished on the H969.
Dual concentric coarse and fine adjust control pots make it a snap to set exactly the pitch ratio or delay time you want. And you can choose from two operating modes for these controls - Positional functions in the normal way (rotate the pot to "dial-in" your selected pitch ratio or delay time). Auto-incremental puts the unit into an automatic counting mode (turn the dial a little to the right of center and the unit starts to count up; turn it to the left and it starts counting down). The further you turn, the faster it counts. In this mode, the unit can automatically vary the pitch ratio up or down, at your choice of speed, to creat apreggiated effects.
With the H969, you get much more delay than we've ever put into a Harmonizer before - 1.53 seconds at full 16kHz bandwidth. Need even more? Just hit the double mode button and delay range is extended to over 3 seconds, at half bandwidth. Another key convenience feature lets you choose and save any five delay times as presets for instant recall. These presets are retained in a non-volatile memory. Each preset delay time is doubled when you press the double mode button, so you really have instant access to ten preset delay times. And it's easy to change your delay preset choices at any time.
Eventide Harmonizer users are familiar with the range of effects that can be achieved with the repeat and reverse audio modes. In the H969, their versatility and usefulness are dramatically increased because the unit's full 1.53/3.06 second digital memory is available in these modes. You can also vary the length of the reversed or repeated audio segment after capture. As with all Eventide Harmonizers, many of the effects can be used in combination, for almost unlimited effects permutations. And variable input/ouput recirculation is available in all modes.
Flanging with the H969 Harmonizer offers many creative options. Flange sweep rate can be varied over a very wide range, or you can sweep manually. You can freeze the flange sweep at any point you select, and you can preset the point at which the flange begins. The H969 also features a Doppler shift mode.
To make the H969 as easy to use in live performance as it is in the studio, we've included front panel preamplified input and effects output phone jacks, in addition to the standard rear-panel XLR-type studio level jacks. Just plug in your instrument. For further convenience in both studio and live performance operations, the H969 also has remote line in/out switching capability, plus remote pitch ratio/delay time set provisions. A keyboard can also be accommodated.
