Renting Equipment from Eventide

Our primary business is the sale of our products.  Occasionally there is a situation where it makes more sense for a customer to rent a unit rather than purchase it.

Leasing (more than a year)

If your goal is to purchase a unit but to pay for it over a period of time, there are many reputable leasing companies who will structure a contract to meet your specific needs.  If you need a unit for more than a year, a leasing arrangement will almost always prove more economical for you.

Brief use (less than a week)

If you need one of our audio products for a brief period, e.g., for a recording session, there are companies that specialize in studio rental and cartage that you will find more convenient to work with, if not necessarily more economical.

Rental from Eventide (a week to a year)

For this period it makes sense to consider renting from us directly.  Our standard procedures are listed below.

What we will rent:

In general we will only rent "standard" products.  Many products have "options" available on special order.  If you need a particular option for a rental we may require either a guarantee of a certain number of months or charge more than the ordinary rental price to supply it.

Rental terms and prices:

Weekly rental - 5% of list price per week or fraction
Monthly rental - 10% of list price per month or fraction
80% of the total rental price can be applied toward purchase at any time while you still have the unit on rental
A maximum of 60% of the total rental paid can be applied toward purchase

Example 1:  You wish to rent a product that sells for $4000 for a period of six months.  We ship the unit to you and bill you $400 per month until you return it.  If, at the end of the sixth month, you decide you want to keep the unit, we would take the total you paid, i.e., $2400, and credit you with 80% of that, $1920.  To own the unit, therefore, you would pay $2080.

Example 2:  Using the same numbers as above, let's say you decided to continue renting the unit for a full year, and then want to purchase it.  In this case, you would have paid $4800, of which 80% ($3840) would be credited.  HOWEVER, because a maximum of 60% of the total rental can be applied toward purchase, you would STILL owe $1600 to own the unit.

Once the unit has been returned all rental credits expire unless we have previously agreed to other arrangements.

Rental period and shipping:

The rental period begins the first full day after we ship the unit to you or you pick it up from us.  The rental period ends at midnight of the day you return the unit to us by hand or deliver it to a common carrier.

We ship by UPS and add the shipping charges to the rental invoice.  You can choose any standard UPS expedited or ground service, and we will charge accordingly.  When you return the unit, we request shipment by UPS 3-day (Orange) service, unless ground shipment will get it to us within 3 days, in which case ground shipment is acceptable.  If we request expedited return shipment we will deduct the additional amount from the final invoice.

Billing:

In most cases we will send an initial rental invoice when we ship the unit, and additional invoices monthly.  We are also happy to consider less paperwork-intensive billing.  If, for example, you know you will want the unit for two months, we will send a single invoice.  We are also happy to accept a stack of checks for an extended rental, and deposit them at the appropriate intervals.
